Here’s the sad reality for Donald Trump — he’s being used.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t feel sorry for him, but he is. He’s the far-right’s useful idiot.
Sure, he thinks he’s president. He won the 2024 election and has the title of President of the United States, but he’s not really running things. The far-right, Project 2025 architects are really in charge, Trump’s just too stupid to realize it. They’re flattering him, telling him what he wants to hear, and sheltering him from reality, which feeds right into his weak and insecure ego.
These folks don’t care if we have an economic crash. In fact, I actually think that they’re hoping for one. When people are distracted by trying to find a job or feed their families, while the wealthy buy up as much as they can for pennies on the dollar, most Americans will be too focused elsewhere to notice all the damage they’re doing to the poor and middle class.
They’re cementing Trump’s legacy as one of the weakest, most incompetent, and worst presidents in U.S. history — and they could not care less. They’re not worried about the legacy of their useful idiot as long as he keeps giving them what they want. They know his time in power is finite, and he’s nearly 80 years old, so it’s not as if he’s going to be politically relevant for that long even after he’s out of office.
Their goal has always been to leverage a useful idiot in power to accomplish what no other president with any sense of morals or decency would ever do. Sure, Trump will go down in history as the only president who seemed to be deliberately trying to cause a recession, increase inflation, and deliberately raise taxes on the poor and middle class, but he’s the one who’ll be blamed for that. Not them. The vast majority of Americans will never know their names. They’ll benefit from everything Trump’s doing while his legacy will forever carry the stench.
Yet he’ll never realize this because he’s an emotionally stunted, insecure, walking poster child for Dunning-Kruger. His handlers will feed into his every insecurity, shield him from every ounce of reality, and keep pumping him full of lies and propaganda like they would any other conservative voter they’re trying to brainwash to get what they want.
That’s the real difference between Trump’s first and second terms. During his first 4 years, he had adults in the room who would push back. Folks who would at least try to rein in his worst instincts and impulses. They would even tell him the facts from time to time and for briefs, infrequent periods, he would listen.
Not this time.
Those folks abandoned him after his attempted coup in 2020 and subsequent following 4 years going down one conspiracy rabbit hole after another.
Now he’s being played by people who are manipulating him for their own benefit.
So, when news comes out about stocks crashing, of course they’re telling him not to worry. Even though, at any other time in Trump’s time in politics, he’s obsessed about the stock markets. They’ve now convinced him stocks don’t matter and a “crash is actually good.” You’ve even started to hear right-wing pundits and voters echo this same nonsense.
It’s all part of the Project 2025 plan.
When his approval rating keeps sinking, who cares — it’s all fake news! Everyone loves you! You have a mandate! You’ve never been more popular! Here, now put on these magnificent new clothes we’ve made for you that are invisible to only those who are incompetent and stupid
All lies but he doesn’t realize that because he’s surrounded by people telling him what he wants to hear.
Every sign points to Putin clearly playing Trump, manipulating him to do the bidding of Russia at the expense of our allies and alliances spanning nearly a century — and the isolationists who oppose a global market and our alliances overseas love it. All they do is tell Trump how “masterful” he’s “negotiating” with Putin even though it’s obvious he’s being conned by a much smarter dictator.
These folks Trump’s surrounded himself with are playing him as the useful idiot to give them what they want at the expense of his legacy as a president. And the ironic part of it all is that the reason they’re able to use and manipulate him is the same reason why he’s allowing it to happen — because he’s too weak, incompetent, egotistical, and flat-out stupid to realize what’s happening.
And then Trump said the Fed should lower interest rates to help “ease” Americans into his tariffs.
My. God.
First, let’s go ahead and add interest rates as something else economically Trump doesn’t understand. Businesses being able to borrow money cheaper will not lower prices for consumers. Even if they could, a 1-2% drop in those rates wouldn’t come close to the 25%+ tax hike on consumer goods his tariffs will add to everyday costs.
Second, I could have swore Trump and his administration have repeatedly said that tariffs wouldn’t cause prices to go up — so what do interest rates matter? Oh, that’s right, he’s a pathological lying piece of shit supported by millions of people who believe anything he says and never hold him accountable for anything.
Also, I would like to point out that he basically admitted that his tariff tax hikes are bad for poor and middle-class Americans but his “solution” is to — help big corporations pay less.
Again — My. God.
It’s very clear to see how this guy went bankrupt 7 times and has so many failed businesses you can put his last name before any common noun and you’re bound to name a few of his failures.
With this kind of “business logic,” it’s a good thing Trump’s largest segment of supporters are the least educated because his “economic knowledge” wouldn’t help him pass a high school economics class.
