Hope and Faith: Trusting God’s Promises

Hope is a beautiful thing it’s that spark inside us that says something is possible, even if we’re not quite sure how or when it will happen. Faith, though, is deeper. Faith is believing and trusting that even when we can’t see the outcome, we keep going because we know God will bring it to pass.

I’ll be honest with you, this isn’t always easy for me. Surrendering control has been a real struggle in my life. There have been so many moments where I’ve had to lay my burdens on God’s altar, whispering through tears, “Lord, I trust You, even when I don’t understand.” And if I’m being completely transparent, there were times I wanted to go back, pick up those burdens, and try to handle them on my own. In this season I’mhaving to lean and dependon God more than ever. Faith means making the choice every single day to trust God fully and not take back what I’ve given to Him.
Faith has stretched me in ways I never imagined I’d make it through. But it has taught me to be okay with not being in control, even when it feels like everything is out of control it’s uncomfortable and scary. This is the hard for me at times, but I am still learning to accept there are some things that are just beyond my ability to fix or control. The only choice is to let go and let God. And that’s exactly where God steps in.
I love how Ephesians 3:20 puts it: “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” This verse has become a lifeline for me, a reminder that God can do so much more than I could ever dream of. When I stop trying to force things and let Him take over, I’m opening the door for His blessings the kind that only He can give.
Isaiah 55:8-9 reminds us that God’s ways and thoughts are so much higher than ours. That’s hard to grasp sometimes, isn’t it? Especially when things don’t go the way we expect or want. But I’ve found so much peace in trusting that He sees the bigger picture and is working things out for my good, even when I don’t understand.
So, I’m making the choice to let go. To have faith. To trust that God will do what He’s promised. I want to encourage you to do the same. Whatever you’re holding onto, whatever you’re wrestling with, lay it down at His feet. Let Him take it. I know it’s not easy, but not only do I promise you, remember God is The Promise Keeper He is worth it. When we let go and let God, we open the door for Him to do what only He can do abundantly, above all we could ever ask or think.

  1. Thank you for your article, Ms. Gunn. It is very inspiring. I agree with you that we should let go of trying to fix certain problems that are out of our control. And let God take care of it. He can fix things nobody or we can control. Just remember this: Do your best, and let God do the rest!
