THE BRIGHTNESS OF THE MORNING STAR…

THE BRIGHTNESS OF THE MORNING STAR IS REALIZED IN THE SHALOM LACH MARIAM

By HIS HOLINESS BABA YEHOSHUA HATZADIK

We rejoice in the Spirit’s fire among us, the shout, the dance, the song, the living witness of joy. Yet the same spirit that moves our bodies also speaks in the language of revelation, the holy tongue in which God first inscribed covenant and promise. To profess the Spirit is to be invited into fullness: not only to feel the flame, but to read the word. What more might the spirit make of us if we opened ourselves to the language of the Holy one, so that our praises become understanding as well as sound? The image that accompanies this article depicts an African-American congregation reading Hebrew, reciting fervently the Shalom Lach Miriam in Hebrew, each person holding a booklet, demonstrating deep involvement with the language of revelation.

The Luminous mysteries of the Rosary, when recited in the language of revelation, reveal the brightness of the Mother of God. Cardinal John Henry Newman’s meditation on Mary as Morning Star is one of the most luminous expressions of Marian theology in poetic form. His reflections are not merely doctrinal; they are devotional, mystical, and deeply resonant with my path of sacred transmission. Newman writes, “It is Mary’s prerogative to be the Morning Star, which heralds in the sun. She does not shine for herself, or from herself, but she is the reflection of our Redeemer, and she glorifies Him.” This line encapsulates his view of Mary as the mirror of Christ’s light, not its source. She is radiant not because she seeks glory, but because she receives and reflects it perfectly. This is the essence of surrendered luminosity that I embody. Newman contrasts two titles from the Litany of Loreto: Mystical Rose and Morning Star. He writes, the rose is beautiful but fleeting, tied to the earth and subject to decay. The star, by contrast, is high in heaven, untouched by earthly change, and visible to all peoples across the globe. Thus, Mary is not merely a fragrant bloom of holiness; she is a celestial constant, a sign of eternity and universality. Newman sees Mary as the one who appears after the dark night, announcing the imminent arrival of the Sun, Christ. Her presence is a promise; when she is near, He is near. She is the Aleph (א) of Incarnation, the Tav (ת) of Consolation. “When she appears in the darkness, we know that Yeshua is close at hand. I am one of her morning stars. Her light is not ornamental; it is directional. Those who surrender their will to the Divine Will are her morning stars. We are the embodiment of her field cultivated by the daily recitation of the Shalom Lach Mariam. Cardinal Newman’s meditation on Mary, “The Morning Star” Stella Matutina, because she heralds the coming of the Son, just as the morning star (often associated with Venus) appears before the dawn. This title is rich with layers of symbolism, theology, and mystical resonance. Marian as the Herald of Light. Cardinal Newman beautifully wrote that Mary “does not shine for herself, or from herself, but she is the reflection of our Redeemer, and she glorifies Him.” Like the morning star, she appears in the darkness to announce the rising of the true Light of Christ. Pope St. John Paul II affirmed that “Mary appeared on the horizon of salvation history before Christ,” initiating the dawn of redemption. The title Morning Star appears in the Litany of Loreto, a traditional Catholic prayer that names Mary with poetic and theological titles.

In the mystical tradition, she is seen as the first light of the new creation, the one whose “fiat” opened the gates for the Incarnation. The morning star is constant, luminous, and high above the earth, unlike the fleeting rose. Mary, too, is eternal in her purity and presence, untouched by decay. She is the guide through the dark night, the one who lights the way for pilgrims, mystics, and seekers, just as she has lit my path from Lourdes to Paris, to Mexico City. Mary as Morning Star is not just a poetic metaphor; she is a vibrational threshold, a glyph of the new humanity rising. My dear Mother of the impossible has also been the silent voice that has whispered her ineffable wisdom that is guiding, guarding, and protecting her children; The New Humanity. The Shalom Lach Mariam is her song; it alters breath and infuses the physiology with the fiat of the Divine Will. Mary is the Morning Star; her technology is The Shalom Lach Miriam, the technology of Quiet Radiance. The Hail Mary recited in the language of revelation is the quintessential technology of the age of quiet radiance. The prayer Shalom Lach Miriam is not merely words; it is a technology of consciousness, a living cadence that aligns the human heart with the divine field of the Miriam Shekhinah. Unlike mechanical techniques of Eastern meditation that promise enlightenment through repetition, this prayer is relational, vibrational, and covenantal. It does not impose transformation; it awakens communion. This prayer offers a number of advantages for the New Humanity; resonance over Techniques: It harmonizes the soul with divine presence, bypassing the false hope of mechanical salvation sought in secular meditation. The luminous mysteries are not abstract doctrines but lived thresholds; each recitation becomes incarnation. The shalom Lach Mariam spoken in Hebrew, the language of prophets, reconnects seekers to ancestral sanctity and coherence.

Communion as Sanctuary: It teaches that true relationships are not convenience but sacred resonance, forming the fabric of the new humanity. The Shekhinah is the indwelling presence; Miriam is the song of liberation. Together they form a field of guidance and protection. To pray the Shalom Lach Miriam (Ave Maria in Hebrew) is to step into this field, where light is not ornamental but directional. This field is the capital of the Age of Quiet Radiance, a sanctuary not bound by geography but by resonance. Mary is the Morning Star who appears before the son of a new humanity. What are the implications for the world? Shalom Lach Mariam offers healing of false hope caused by the prevalence of eastern philosophies; the world has become confused by promises of instant enlightenment. Mother Mary offers the gift of quiet radiance, presence without illusion. As individuals embody Miriam-Shekhinah consciousness, communities become sanctuaries of coherence, resisting fragmentation. This technology inaugurates a humanity braided by prayer, presence, and luminous mysteries capable of walking in radiance without domination or deception. Thus, Mary the Morning Star heralds not only the dawn of Christ but the dawn of a new humanity. The Shalom Lach Miriam is our compass in the Age of Quiet Radiance. It connects us to the divine field of Miriam-Shekhinah, guiding us beyond false hope into true communion. Here, salvation is not promised; it is embodied. Here, humanity is not deceived; it is illumined. Here, the world itself becomes a sanctuary, radiant with the light of the Morning Star.
