The Alabama Republican Party has approved a new rule to their Bylaws by an 83% majority of their membership that would allow their Party to disqualify an elected Republican official if they hire or appoint a Democrat to a position during their term. According to Suzelle Josey, a former Senate candidate, stated that this was to send the message that Republicans in Alabama would keep Republicans in office. What does this mean for Democrats?
First, in Alabama, we do not register to vote as a Democrat or a Republican. The only way that your employer would know you voted Democratic is to access your voting record. This is just another ploy to discourage Democrats from voting. DON’T FALL FOR IT!
What kind of administration will we have in Alabama with Tommy Tuberville as our governor? When Tuberville was running for the Senate, his only promise was to do whatever Donald Trump wanted done. He fulfilled that promise and now says that he will continue to do so as Governor of Alabama.
Tuberville is not qualified to be on the ballot. According to the qualifying rules, Tuberville is not a citizen of Alabama. Ironically, neither is the Chairman of the Republican Party! Follow me here…. Tuberville left Auburn, Alabama, in 2008. He relocated to Texas when he took a coaching job with Texas Tech. On December 8, 2012, Tuberville resigned as head coach at Texas Tech in order to become the 38th head coach at the University of Cincinnati. He left Cincinnati in December 2016. He then bought a $6 million beachfront home in Santa Rosa, Florida. Public records show Tuberville has owned this beachfront mansion on Old Beach Road in Santa Rosa Beach for about two decades. In 2023, he purchased another condo in Florida, with legal documents from the transaction listing the Old Beach Road property as his primary residence. The property in Auburn, Alabama, that Tuberville claims has been his home is listed in his wife’s and son’s names. In order to qualify for the race, Tuberville needs to prove state residency going back at least seven years. He has failed to provide evidence for his long-term residency, for instance, refusing to make public his income tax returns. Instead, Tuberville has attempted to lean on his wife’s homestead exemption in Auburn, claiming that the residency loophole should be enough to prove he’s resided in Alabama since 2018. Except for one big problem….. Tuberville is a registered voter in the State of Florida and has voted in Florida since moving there. Tommy Tuberville is NOT an Alabama resident.
As for John Wahl, he is a resident of the State of Tennessee. Bear with me…… John Wahl is a fake. His legal name is Nehemiah Ezekiel Wahl. Yet on his legally required Statement of Economic Interests, SEI—a document every public official or appointee must file annually under oath—he signs as “John Wahl.” This isn’t a harmless nickname on a birthday card. It is a sworn government document, governed by Alabama Code §36-25-14, which clearly states that intentional violations can result in a $1,000 fine, administrative penalties, or even criminal charges. According to the Secretary of State in Tennessee, Wahl held a valid Tennessee driver’s license under his legal name, Nehemiah Ezekiel Wahl, at the same time he was voting in Alabama under the name John Wahl. The Secretary of State in Tennessee has confirmed that Wahl is still currently registered to vote in Tennessee under the name Nehemiah Wahl. Simultaneously, Alabama Secretary of State records indicate he is registered in Alabama as John Wahl. Under Alabama Code §7-17-36, it is a felony to register or attempt to vote under a false name or otherwise misrepresent one’s identity.
That brings us to the Alabama Republican Party itself. The party’s Bylaws, last amended in 2024, don’t explicitly require officers to sign documents using their legal names. But they do emphasize the importance of integrity and compliance with the law. One would think a political party so committed to law and order (yeah, right) would expect the same from its top official. So, here we have a Tennessee man who qualified a Florida man to run for Governor of Alabama. Let that sink in.
It appears that the Alabama Secretary of State has turned his blind eye to these violations in support of Party politics. What makes this a problem is that Wes Allen is running for Lt Governor!
Tuberville’s “Trump-like” comments are outrageous. He made the statement that the Democrats are a “Satanic cult.” He recently blamed the Democrats for the shooting death of Charlie Kirk, in that the Democrats “have preached this hate against Americans across this country, that believed in the Constitution and the things that this country was built on.” He also said “that Democrats are “pro-crime” and “want reparations because they think the people that do the crime are owed that”.
Tuberville has been clear that he has no intentions of working with Democratic leaders in our State and has expressed his dislike of Democrats. Now that the Republican Party has decided to disqualify a Republican who hires Democrats, what does that mean for our teachers, police officers, firefighters, and first responders? Does this mean that the only qualification you need in Alabama to work a job is to be a Republican? What will our job applications look like? Education and experience will no longer matter. Is this not discrimination?
Where does this all end? How does this align with the Constitution? Most important…..What is the Democratic Party doing about this? Oh yeah, they are fighting with each other about who will represent them with the DNC!!! But, never fear my Democratic friends, for I have an answer for ya…..Elect Dr Will Boyd or Chig Martin, and we won’t have to worry about this problem.
