Do we really want to go back to the 60’s and put Alabama back out in the forefront of racism in this country? This is a possibility if the Alabama voters decide to elect Tuberville as our Governor.
Recently, Tuberville made a post connecting New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s Ramadan iftar at the City Hall with the September 11th attacks and wrote on the Platform X, “The enemy is inside the gates,” quoting a post from an account labeled “End Wokeness.” The account put an image of Mamdani next to a photo of the twin towers burning after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, noting in a caption that the two events were less than 25 years apart.
Tuberville has proved not only to Alabamians but to the world that he is a racist with disgusting actions that are not appealing as “Governor material.” Is this the best that the Republicans have to offer? It is shameful that a candidate would use such mindless hate toward another American. It encourages hate and discrimination.
Tuberville seems to have an addiction to controversy. He has insisted that white nationalists were not inherently racist and attacked efforts by our military to recruit and promote racial minorities within its ranks. He says that our military is not an equal opportunity employer.
Tuberville has defended white nationalist service members and claimed that teachers in urban school districts are lazy, greedy, and potentially incapable of reading and writing.
Tubervile also single-handedly held up hundreds of military promotions in protests of President Biden’s policy that grants service members paid leave and reimbursements for out-of-state travel to receive abortion related care. He voted against the confirmation of Charles Q. Brown, an Air Force General set to serve as the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, because Tuberville said General Brown had “woke policies.” The people in Alabama should be embarrassed about this. Tuberville has never served in the military and does not understand that the military is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate based on race.
We all know that Tuberville does not meet the necessary requirements to even run for Governor of Alabama. The Republicans have chosen to turn a blind eye to the law and allow him on the ballot. The Alabama Constitution is clear that a candidate for Governor must have been a resident of the State of Alabama for at least seven years immediately preceding the election. He actually has lived very comfortably in his million-dollar beachfront mansion in Florida. He has refused to release his tax returns to prove that he filed in Alabama.
Alabama does not need a racist who lies as our Governor. The one we have in the White House is bad enough. You’re welcome.
