Bits & Pieces

At this point in our lives, we have more time to ‘THINK’ than ever…one does not have to be retired to look back at bits of advice, or oldie-goldie sayings we heard but did not pay attention to…so,  I said to myself, “Now, I know what my grandma,( ILAFRANCIS ( MOORE) DAVIS BROWN)  (other older folks too) meant when they said…”

  1. TIMING is everything. The things you are praying for will show up when you are most ready for them.
  2. When a church changes its values to match current culture they’re no longer following the Bible, they’re following the lost.
  3. God formed us; Sin deformed us; Christ transforms us.
  4. Sometimes I feel bad for not calling up on people, but then I realize the phone works BOTH ways and there ain’t nobody checking up on me.
  5. If being hurt by the church causes you to lose faith in God then your faith was in people, not God.
  6. A teacher’s life would be easier if parents put the same effort for prom & graduation…into school work.
  7. Why don’t the 99% of us who aren’t offended by everything, quit catering to the 1 % who are…
  8. My mother, (Juanita Jeanette Brown Barrett-Jelks once said:

“Hate has 4 letters but so does love.

Enemies have 7 letters but so do friends.

Lying has 5 letters but so does Truth.

Cry has 3 letters but so does positivity.”

Life is 2-sided, choose the better side of it.”

9. The biggest mistake we make in life is thinking we have time.

10. The ugliest thing I have seen is a human being who lacks compassion.

11. Why do restaurants add 18% gratuity when the Lord only asks for 10%…I ain’t ever had no waitress turn my water into wine.

12. Never go to bed angry.

13. You can’t take your money with you.

14. Don’t spend what you don’t have.

15. Trust someone as far as you can throw them.

16. Actions speak louder than words.

17. Accept what is, let go of what was, and have faith in what will be.

18. Neither a borrower nor a lender be.

These old-fashioned sayings really do have a place in our lives today__especially when you feel like you need to form better habits,  create healthier relationships, or refocus what matters to you most.  Can I get an ‘AMEN’?
