Handbasket

“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.” (Ephesians 4:29)
Handbasket
Just the other day, I heard someone say, “He’s going to hell in a handbasket.”
I tried to envision this concept, but my brain could not grasp it.
I began to analyze the structure of the basket;
But could not visualize it replacing a sturdy casket.
Thoughts began to bombard me; I’ll pause here to ask it:
Who would ever purchase a basket for a casket?
If going to hell, who would want to carry it?
Reality took its stand and finally said to me,
“People say the darndest things that really don’t make sense.”
Trying to imagine them as real only makes you seem dense.”
A basket would be too small to carry a body in;
But surely, he would be bound for hell if his life were filled with sin.
