The legacy of Mrs. Irene Ash is one that runs deep in the hearts of all who knew her. To witness a woman of God who gave so much of herself to others has been an incredible honor and privilege. For her children, grandchildren, and everyone she touched, her presence was a gift. From a young age, we were taught to “be good little girls and boys.” Back then, we may not have fully understood the significance of those words, but as life has unfolded, we’ve come to realize how theses words shaped us into the people we are today. Those simple lessons have become the foundation of our values, and they echo in the lives we now lead.
She taught us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and to lean not on our own understanding. At times, especially during the trials of this year, those words felt difficult to hold on to. But now, in the bittersweet memories and the legacy she has left behind, we can see the wisdom in her guidance. As we walked through the Lord’s will and her final wishes, one thing was clear: she loved the Lord with all her heart and was eager to meet Him. She longed to hear Him say, “Well done, thy good and faithful servant.”
Her service to others is what we cherish most. She opened her heart and her home to anyone in need, whether through piano lessons, or comforting words, let me whisper a little prayer for you. Her prayers were like a shelter, and her home was a sanctuary where peace always dwelled.
She raised us with scripture such a train them up in the way they should go and they will not depart. Those scriptures are ingrained in our hearts. It is our deep privilege to honor her now, the matriarch of our family, whose faith never wavered.
As we continue on in life, striving to be the good little boys and girls she raised us to be, we hold fast to what she taught us. Trust and look up to God through the process, knowing that progress requires faith. And as we grow through that process, we are reminded that God’s promises are always revealed in time. Keep the faith.
Matthew 17:20 “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, nothing shall be impossible for you.”
