The Lord has made the following promises of homeland security for a country:
- “I will grant peace in the land, and you will lie down, and no one will make you afraid, . . and the sword will not pass through your country (Leviticus 26:6, New International Version).”
- “You will be secure under a government that is just and fair. Your enemies will stay far away. You will live in peace, and terror will not come near (Isaiah 54:4, New Living Translation).”
- “No longer will violence be heard in your land, nor ruin or destruction within your borders, but you will call your walls ‘Salvation’ and your gates ‘Praise’ (Isaiah 60:18, New International Version).”
The sword in Leviticus serves as a metaphor for weapons of destruction that can bring harm and destruction to our country and the citizens within. The United States Department of Homeland Security’s website defines weapons of mass destruction as nuclear, radiological, chemical, or biological devices intended to harm a large number of people (www.dhs.gov/topics/weapons-mass-destruction). These devices include bombs, missiles, rockets, manual firearm weapons, plagues, and toxins. The enemies in Leviticus and Isaiah 54:4 serve as a metaphor for terrorists, which are people who use unlawful violence and intimidation against a government and its civilians to gain political purposes.
The Lord has promised that people will live in a land that contains a peaceful and secure government, where they can lie down in peace without any fear of coming terrorism. His promise has blessed our country with the United States Department of Homeland Security. The department’s website says they work every day to prevent terrorists from harming our country and American citizens. To protect American citizens, the Homeland Security Department has a Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction office ( CWMD) that learns about current and future threats that weapons of mass destruction can cause. The CWMD also comes up with plans to stop the threats.
With the CWMD, the department has an agent called the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). ICE enforces immigration laws to preserve national security and public safety. With CWMD and ICE, the Homeland Security Department has other agents to prevent terrorists, illegal immigrants, and drug traffickers from entering the United States. These agents include the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and the United States Coast Guard (USCG).
The CBP is responsible for watching and employing agents to watch over all the borders of our country, the Mexican and the Canadian borders. By having the CBP, the Lord has blessed the borders of our country with peace (Psalm 147:14, New International Version). The TSA is responsible for providing security and protection for travelers by employing officers at airports, subways, railroad stations, and many other transportation hubs in our nation. The USCG is responsible for watching over our nation’s coasts, ports, harbors, and waterways and the water vehicles coming within. These three agents inspect passengers and their merchandise and luggage to detect evidence of weapons or harmful or illegal drugs before they get into the hands of American citizens. The agents are also responsible for reporting security threats.
With the agents under the Homeland Security department, the Lord has blessed our nation with peace and security. As a result, we shall no longer hear violence coming from weapons of mass destruction to ruin our land, nor shall we hear news or threats of terrorists entering our borders. Since the Lord has blessed our borders with peace and security, we, the American citizens, can claim our border walls have salvation from God, and we can praise them. Therefore, I pray that the Lord’s grace and spirit will provide all of the agents in the United States Department of Homeland Security with the knowledge and power to protect us and our country from all works of present and future terrorism. May He bless all the services they provide for our nation! May God bless America in Jesus’ name. Amen—Kenneth Sullivan.
