When we stop to think about life today. It seems as if everything is speeding by. I call it the microwave effect. Pop whatever you want in hit a button and boom you’ve got something to satisfy your appetite. Cook it and it fills us up quick. Off we go eating on the run.
There are so many things that are so much better when cooked slow and steady. For example, the sweet bread or cake (as we called it) that my grandmother Irene Ash used to make for us. She took her sweet slow time preparing every ingredient that was going to make what we knew was going to taste like perfection. Everything had to be blended together just right. Preheat the oven to bake at the right temperature. I don’t know about you but no running and jumping in that kitchen while this delicate cake took it’s time to bake was understood. The cake may fall and it would not turn out right.
That’s what God is looking for in us. Get in a space and place slow down and hear from Him. Quick doesn’t produce the long-term results God wants to work in our lives. Preparation reading His Word. Dedication setting time out to intentionally spend and seek Him. These are the things we must do that produce a lifestyle and relationship with God. Allowing God to perfect us in His timing.
Our desire continuously wants everything to be done quick and fast. This will not help us when the mountain or the storms don’t move in our timing. He produces in us endurance, power, and strength. We have the ability to handle God size blessings but this requires God size faith. He builds this in the wait.
In the midst of adversity, He strengthens and builds ( Isaiah 40:31). Our hope is increased as we wait on the Lord. We must trust that He will renew our strength. Most often we want to coast through a storm. Hop over obstacles, plow through problems. Get through things quickly. When God is saying I need for you to let me build and equip you with the skills to live a fulfilled blessed life.
Satisfied only by what He pours into us. This is to help us become fortified in our future. That sweet bread (cake) took time and we knew better than to rush grandmother cooking it! So why do we rush God? Wait on the Lord and follow His instuction. Oh how sweet it was watching what felt like forever emerge from the oven. Slow and steady made with love which I believe was the main ingredient. It felt like a small taste of Heaven. God wants us to taste and see that He and His Word are good and true. Quick can be good for some things but please know that what God wants for us is best. What He’s doing may feel like a long time but a lifetime of His goodness is what He desires to bless us with.
