WORDS OF INSPIRATION FOR YOUTHS

(All Scriptures came from the New Living Translation of the Holy Bible).

Young people, it is wonderful to be young! Enjoy every minute of it! Do everything you want to do; take it all in. But remember that you must give an account to God for everything you do. So refuse to worry, and keep your body healthy. Remember that youth, with a whole life before you is meaningless. Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, “Life is not pleasant anymore” (Ecclesiastes 11:9-12:1).

As a youth, King Solomon told you to remember that a whole life before you is meaningless; therefore, do all you can to make your life meaningful while you are young. Seeking wisdom is the best thing you can do with your life; if you find it, you will have a bright future, and your hopes will not be cut short (Proverbs 24:14).

Do not be impressed by your wisdom; instead, get it from fear of the Lord (Proverbs 3:7) because it is the foundation and teaching of its trueness (Job 28:28, Psalm 111:10, and Proverbs 9:10). He alone understands its way and knows where to find it (Job 23:23, New Living Translation). Ask the Lord if you need wisdom, and He will generously give it to you without rebuke, as long as your faith is in Him alone (James 1:5-6).

The benefit of seeking wisdom from fear of the Lord is getting a longer life (Proverbs 10:27 and 22:9); it will multiply our days and add years to our life (Proverbs 9:11). Like Moses in Psalm 90:12, young people must ask God to teach them to realize that life is short on Earth, so they must also grow in wisdom.

Growth in wisdom comes by obeying the Lord’s commandments (Psalm 111:10); if you store them in your heart, you will live many years and have a satisfying life (Proverbs 3:1 and 2).

The essential thing in seeking wisdom from fear of the Lord is accountability to God. Fear God and obeying His commands is everyone’s duty (Ecclesiastes 12:13). Like everybody else on earth, young people must stand before Christ to give an account for everything they do through His judgment, whether good or bad (Ecclesiastes 12:14 and 2 Corinthians 5:10). Jesus Christ will give eternal life, glory, honor, and peace to those who continue to do good. He will pour out His anger and wrath on those who continue to do evil, such as refusing to obey the truth in God, living for themselves without God in their life—that will bring trouble and calamity (Romans 2:6-10).

King Solomon advised youths to remember God while they are young because HIs people live, move, and exist in Him (Acts 17:28); King Solomon also encouraged young people to honor God before they grow old and no longer see the pleasure in living. God carried His people before they were born and cared for them since they were born. He will continue to care for and carry us along with Him to save us throughout our lifetime—until we grow old (Isaiah 46:3-4): He promises He will always be with us, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20).

King Solomon advised you to enjoy every minute as a youth and do everything you please, without any worries. Give your burdens and cares to the Lord because He takes care of you (Psalm 55:12 and 1 Peter 5:7).

You must not forget God during the excitement of youth because you are accountable to Him, like everyone else; put Him first in everything you do because His purpose will prevail (Proverbs 19:21). —Kenneth Sullivan
