FEAR NOT: THE LION OF THE TRIBE OF YEHUDAH HAS BROKEN EVERY CHAIN OF SLAVERY
The eternal winds of change have blown for a formerly disenfranchised Black Nation. The conception of a spiritual belief system is a necessary and essential step in the redemptive cycle of, this our day. The Rastafarian movement of the Black man has always been in the hearts of the Nyabinghi warriors, who for four hundred years resisted the deception of service to the White God of the oppressor. Prompted by the prophecy of Marcus Garvey who said “ look to Africa for the crowning of an ancient Black King, for this will be evidence of the Blackman’s redemption”. On November 2, 1930, the coronation of Rastafari, His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie occurred in Addis Ababa Ethiopia. The Jamaican Locks men communities saw this as the fulfillment of Marcus Garvey‘s prophecy and subsequently began to preach the divinity of His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie as God-incarnate.
The Rastafarian belief system was conceived by the Rasta-man for the BLACKMAN to liberate the African man from the White-man’s religion of slavery. Millions of Africans, worldwide have divested themselves of the concept of a White Jesus Savior in exchange for the Black African redemptive King.
Rastafari is the 235th great-grandson of King David from the union of King Solomon, and Queen Makedah of Ethiopia; the bible refers to her as the queen of the south. Her Son was named Menelik the 1st who, according to the Kebra Nagast was the first Emperor of the Solomonic dynasty. Haile Selassie is the 225th and last Emperor of the Solomonic Dynasty.
From a cultural perspective, the conception of Rastafari is embraced with alacrity throughout the diaspora without the necessity of Biblical evidence. Why, because it is seen as a cosmic imperative for the African to disabuse him from the fallacious teaching of needing a “ savior”. The notion of a Jesus Christ as messiah and savior was literally beaten into our ancestors for four hundred years and yet, these two words are mutually exclusive and must not be used interchangeably.
The Messianic era is one of perfection which is incompatible with the Black man’s experience. There is not one shred of evidence that Jesus is a savior; he certainly has not saved the Blackman from violence, injustice, poverty, mass incarcerations, and intellectual robbery by the whites. The Blackman does not need a savior! Exodus chapter 4: 22 God is speaking and God says that the Hebrew Israelite is His son, moreover the first-born son of God. Israel does not need a savior, Israel has a King. Ezekiel 34:11 prophecies that The King himself will come to search out and awaken his Nation. In this redemptive cycle, the ancient Israelites and Eternal King have come in the person of RASTAFARI. Isaiah 43:11 clearly states there is no savior but HIM. In this dispensation, Haile Selassie is the physical manifestation of that king unto the Rastafarians. Those who need Biblical evidence often cite Revelation chapter 19; which states the returned Anointed One would have written upon his vestments: THE KING OF KINGS AND THE LORD OF LORDS, The CONQUERING LION OF THE TRIBE OF YEHUDAH. This title was conferred on Haile Selassie by the Ethiopian Orthodox Church on November 2, 1930. His coronation was attended by representatives of 72 Nations that came to pay homage to the Solomonic King of Kings; including England, France, and the United States. This monumental event, some argue was cosmic; the return of the savior of the world. The name Haile Selassie means, “ The power of the Trinity” in the Amharic language. The coronation of RASTAFARI was prima facia evidence of the fulfillment of Marcus Garvey’s prophecy. Subsequently, Garvey has become comparable to John the Baptist’s prophecy of the Messiah’s coming in the New Testament.
There is, as there always was and will be considerable controversy around any human that is identified with divinity. This notwithstanding, subjective perceptions, belief systems, and religious diversity are an integral part of the cultural diversity within society; each group sees the world from its own unique vista. The founding fathers of the Rastafarian movement in Jamacia are Leonard Howell, Robert Hines, Joseph Hilbert, Prophet Gadd, Marcus Garvey, and Prince Emmanuel. Mortimer Planno was the teacher of Bob Marley; one of the most renowned international Rastafarian ambassadors. Genesis 1:29 provided a biblical foundation for the use of the herb marijuana. Rastafarian Elders grew marijuana and used it as a sacrament within their worship. The axiom “marijuana is for the healing of the nation” is associated with the Rastafarian movement. In the 21st century, scientific research has validated what the Holy Rastaman intuitively cognized about the Marijuana plant’s medical and health benefits. For example, the Marijuana strand Sativa has been shown to inhibit gastric acid, and pain and spasticity in multiple sclerosis patients, glaucoma, autism, and cancer. Veterans who suffer Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) report significant reductions in the onset of flash-backs and or episodes of spontaneous anxiety attacks.
The tree of life stands in the garden of immortality sprouting its many branches. In the long march of time, new branches sprout as others decay. In each new epoch, a different branch or belief system sprouts to bind its believers to the unmanifest eternal intelligence that man calls God. Rastafari is the new branch on the tree of eternal wisdom and King Haile Selassie, His Imperial Majesty, is seen as the root system and foundation of the tree of immortality itself. Playing the Nyabinghi drum rhythm serves to water the root of the tree of immortality which ensures their livity (freedom) and enlivens the creation with holiness that thwarts darkness and increases divine order and celestial coherence.
The linage of King RASTAFARI is biblical, unto the Rastaman Haile Selassie is ”greater David and greater Solomon” in this dispensation. The great shofar has blown, and the judgment rendered. The twelve tribes of Israel hails under the new name RASTAFARI. Within the consciousness of 144,000 from each tribe of Hebrew Israelites are written that name, RASTAFARI, which makes the weak heart tremble, and the heathens choke. Their locks and beards are symbolic of their commitment to being natural. The house of RASTAFARI is pure consciousness that must express itself in concert with the laws of nature. Hence, there is no monolith definition of RASTAFARI for it is non- crystallized. It is the inpouring and uprising of consciousness yet fully manifested. What is crystal clear what we do know is that RASTAFARI is love, family, international peace, holy, educated, and engaged in intellectual and spiritual study. The highest spiritual values of ethics and morality are extolled by Rastafarian communities. The Rasta-Woman is called Queen or Empress out of respect and acknowledgment of the equality of the feminine principle. The Rasta woman is a virtuous woman of wisdom, with mystical intuition that is priceless and invaluable to her King-man. Rasta children, like their parents, are the recipients of that Nyabinghi spirit, they are taught to accept their roles as JAH Children which includes persecution, rejection, as well as spiritual rewards. Rastafarians are here to preserve the African spirit and to worship their God and King in their image. Going forward, embrace this cosmic imperative and do not fight against it.
