A REFLECTION ON CHANGE

By Dr.Y’Shua Yisrael

To ensure every citizen access to a quality life that offers cultural, intellectual, technological, and spiritual richness, the wheels of change must inevitably turn, although, they do not turn uniformly; as racism is inherent in the mechanisms of societal progress. The 21st century has been characterized by radical change, transformation, and a restructuring of traditional ethics and values. For example, in the prototype European family, the status of animals has been made equivalent to that of children and (2), the ongoing effort to dismantle the shrines, and monuments that enshrine and glorify White supremacy are two examples of such change. While gigantic cultural, intellectual, and technological strides are evident, there is a conspicuous absence, and undeniable lag, in the spiritual growth of humanity. This, our day, is distinguished by mass killings, and it seems the ideal of “the good,” has become simply that; an unobtainable ideal.

At this critical juncture of our collective growth, each individual should ask what can I do to amplify the need for spiritual awakening. Going forward, a succinct definition is needed to differentiate spirituality from the mundane; the quintessential of holiness is “ set-apartness” beyond the relative. Reality can be divided into two components: the obvious world vs the unseen non-changing world. Our visible, changing world of matter is caused by and structured in the non-changing spiritual world. To use an old cliché, the physical world is unreal, while the unseen world is real. For the purpose of this essay, a spiritual awakening is defined as the cognition of these two aspects, with a commitment to cultivating both, awareness and identification with the non-changing world. When spirituality is pursued the rewards are eternal, i.e., wisdom, understanding, longevity, and inner peace. These qualities enshrine godliness in humanity and amplify spirituality. In order for a society to become illuminated by spirituality; individual consciousness must first be illuminated by the experience of the non-changing, spiritual aspect of reality. In contradistinction, the pursuit of egoistic enterprises in the relative world offers only temporary objects that deteriorate, and fade away on the corridor of time. The prudent society should set its aims towards the eternal. There seems to be no sense of meaning to life in our society; life itself is devalued as exemplified by daily murders and suicides. Contemporary life is a relentless quest for only materialism, aimed at self-aggrandizement, to inflate the ego, which invariably fosters selfishness.

The code of conduct called morality inevitably changes with time, and each culture maintains the right to define its traditions and values. For example, African cultures embrace extended families, with multiple wives and categorically reject homosexuality. The Western or White world, conversely, and consistent with its nature, embrace homosexuality. Political agendas are forged to convey the will of the people which determines the laws that guide their destiny. From the 17th century until the end of the 20th century, America’s evolutionary momentum was stultified, owing to its entrenchment and preoccupation with the denial of equal rights to Black Americans. In keeping with this tradition of denial, Florida’s Governor Ron Desantis, recently articulated his opposition to Black education, by brazenly speaking out against the African American Placement Program; his posture illustrates the lack of uniformity with which the wheels of progress turn. Nevertheless, in spite of such objections, the dynamic forces of nature which structure equity, and foster change, always prevail. This lesson was learned during the historic quest for Public School desegregation; every barrier eventually imploded because nothing can stop the times.

In a Biblical myth, god sends down fire and brimstone to destroy the city of Sodom because of its preference for homosexuality. Thus, for centuries homosexuality thrived surreptitiously among Europeans, and owing to a theological conviction, this orientation was denied in preference for heterosexuality. The indomitable forces of truth, that foster change, burst asunder the chains of shame and liberated lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgendered individuals from the crucible of public excoriation. After a long, brutal, bitter, and sometimes bloody struggle, LGBTQ, and same-sex marriages were legalized and the pejorative diatribes retracted. Today same-sex relationships are visible within every stratum of the Western world. . Owing to the absence of access to the authentic spiritual Self, Black America is in the last stage of a slow death. Every song has a frequency that is equivalent to the wisdom of its lyrical content. The mathematical frequencies which comprise the Hip Hop music genre, coupled with an immature generational consciousness, spewed vitriolic content into its community resulting in a mortal wound to the Black American community. The negative consequences of the frequency of Hip-Hop, have severed the spiritual vitality and reoriented the focus of a generation to materialism and sensuality; which ensures a slow death.

The underdeveloped consciousness of the immature artist, devoid of higher states of spiritual wisdom, was popularized and empowered by an exogenous controlled, music industry. Their stardom is used to infuse violence and promote money lust, guns, and sexuality in Black communities. The subliminal effects of Hip Hop maintain and sustain immorality; the leading spiritual cause of poverty and unemployment among African Americans. Hip Hop’s popularity is reinforced by the failure of the Educational System; the curricula of which, to Black youth, is irrelevant. The popularity of hip-hop has destroyed the upward trajectory of Black America’s intellectual vanguard in preference for secular entertainment, inclusive of female denigration, fantasy, the use of expletives, gangs, violence, and drugs! The content of Hip Hop delimited the aspirations of a generation of sensuality and vulgar lyrical entertainment.

The impact of which has plunged the Black Community further and further into the cesspool of sensuality and secularism. However, the indomitable forces of truth have again prevailed; the rebirth of Hebrew Israelite spirituality is countering and dispelling the forces of darkness. Artists with Hebrew consciousness are emerging to fulfill the prophecy of, “ the coming,” an essential element to the resurrection of the Black man. The pendulum has swung, and new changes are finding their way to the forefront of public awareness. There is a growing recognition that antisemitism, at home, abroad, or in any form, is a vile wickedness that must not be tolerated. Just as the Transatlantic Slave Trade is sacred to African Americans, the Trail of Tears to the Native Americans, and the Holocaust is equally sacred to the Jews. Change is inevitable, it is inherent in the design of life; evolution occurs through the interaction of opposites. Reflecting on change in your own life, as well as those in the world is essential; it awakens the recognition that, nothing remains the same; everything must change!
