BEHOLD THE WOMAN CLOTHED WITH THE SUN

Dr. Y’shua Yisrael. BABA

A great sign appeared in the heavens: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of 12 stars; (Revelation 12: 1). “The dragon grew angry with the woman and went away to make war on the rest of her offsprings who keep God’s commandments and holds Yeshua’s testimony (Revelation 12:1, 17)”.

The book of Revelation is written metaphorically, it is done so purposefully in order to conceal the light of truth from the children of darkness. The Holy Spirit; the spirit of truth descended on Yeshua’s disciples following his assumption into heaven to elevate their souls to a higher level.

Without the Ruach Ha Kodesh (The Holy Spirit) the soul level is animalistic and incapable of fulfilling the Mitzvah of God. The Holy Spirit empowers humanity to live in concert with the laws of life. Without spiritual empowerment that unifies the ordinary human soul -level with the Divine Will, humanity remains alienated and spiritually impotent! Hence, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost gave birth to a new humanity that by virtue of the Holy Spirit enables them to fulfill the laws. The new humanity is comprised of the spiritual brothers and sisters of the only begotten Son of God (Yeshua). The supreme spiritual favor of Mary elevates her to the status of the Mother of the spiritual constituents of her Holy Son.

In Exodus 4:22 Ha Shem commands the pharaoh to, “let my son, even my firstborn son go, that he might serve me”.  In retrospect, the sonship referenced in Exodus 4:22 were sons of the flesh, they were not yet empowered to keep the Law. During that critical period of the formation of the nation of Israel at Mount Sinai; with the exception of our Rabbi Moses, Israel was an admixture of ex-slaves with a Nefesh soul-level, powerless to fulfill Torah. In Matthew 5:17-18, Yeshua said, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not one jot or tittle of the law will by any means disappear from the law until everything is fulfilled”. The history of violence, and unresolved antagonism between the nation of Israel, neighboring nations, as well as within its own ranks, is prima facie evidence that Torah without the Holy Spirit cannot be fulfilled. Mere human willpower is incapable of fulfilling the Mitzvah of the Torah. As history unfolds, the salvific plan has been incrementally revealed.

In the gospel of Luke, The angel Gabriel is sent to Mary by God.  He informs her that she will conceive a spiritual son miraculously by the Holy Spirit. Moreover, she was to name him, “ Yahshua”. This is a  holy name in Lashon Ha Kodesh, the holy tongue of Hebrew; only this name, has profound meaning for the salvation of the world. ( יה) Yah, the God of Israel is  (שוע,) Savior (St Luke 28:1) In contradistinction to Israel’s former status as the physical sons of God, (Exodus 4:22), Yeshua sonship is spiritual. Spiritual humanity has an inherently higher soul level; called, Ruach Ha Kodesh which affords affinity and synchronicity with the laws of God.  The spiritual son of God  (Yeshua) was sent by God to empower humanity with this inner soul level that synchronizes human thought, speech, and actions with the laws of God; enabling them to live consistently within the parameters of the Torah.

Mary in her humility and innocence said, “Let it be according to your word (Luke 1:38)”. Mary’s yes in response to the angelic annunciation, is the fulcrum on which the new humanity is conceived. Her yes is perhaps, the most critical moment in the history of humanity. The Holy Spirit reinforces the Angel’s comments to Mary during her subsequent visit to Elizabeth further exemplifying her union with the Divine fiat. Upon receiving Mary into her home, Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and exclaimed, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb”( Luke 1:42). This expression is the quintessential revelation of her extraordinary status among humanity. As the Mother of God-incarnate, her maternal womb enveloped the divine fiat itself facilitating the transmutation of the spirit of God into the flesh of man. Each moment that divinity pulsated in her womb was a moment of ineffable joy, inundated by seas of happiness. In Mary’s divine womb, her flesh and blood became the flesh and blood of Yeshua. On the 8th day of his life, his precious blood was spilled during circumcision. He chose to undergo this dolorous cut in order to become a degraded man and brother of humanity. On the 40th day of his birth, Mary presented him in the temple and the priest Simeon recognizing that he was a divine word was overcome with immense joy. Simeon prophesied, saying “This child is destined for the rise and fall of many in Israel and to be a sign that will be contradicted. And you yourself a sword will pierce so that the thoughts and many hearts will be revealed( Luke 2:22-35)”.  Were it not for divine volition, I’m certain that Mary at that instant would have died of pure sorrow. Instead, Divine Fiat emboldened her with tremendous insight into the incarnation objective of her and her son.

The image of the woman clothed with the Sun in the book of Revelation is an image that conveys the perpetual celestial radiance of Mary’s hypostatic union with divine Fiat. The moon under her feet symbolizes the darkness over which she triumphed by giving birth to the spirit of eternal life. The 12 stars in the garland upon her head symbolize the new Israel, born of the Ruach Ha Kodesh by means of the depository, fountain, and perennial flow of eternal life of her son Yeshua; the savior of the world.

Let us pray. “Hail holy queen, mother of mercy our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve, to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this veil of tears, turn then most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us, and after this our exile, show unto us the Blessed fruit of thy womb; Yahshua”.
