Good and Bad Motivation

Bob McClain

When you’re committed to doing something that you know you’re capable of achieving, and someone tells you that you need to try doing something else, their lack of confidence in you can be used as motivation to achieve your goal.

However, you must not set out to prove that person, or persons, wrong as your basic motivation, but your main and “GO TO” motivation must always be your belief in yourself, and what you KNOW you’re committed to becoming.
Your PASSION is your “WHY,” and that’s what helps you to IMPROVE your skill level. Good motivation comes from within us, but bad motivation occurs when we set out to prove someone else wrong, and when we fail they tell us these famous words…”I told you so!”
Another person’s assessment of your abilities (good or bad) should always serve as a reminder, a wake-up call, because the person giving the information is not you, and you’re not them. Positive compliments that are not digested and assimilated the right way can be more lethal than negative compliments.
Success and failure, and good and bad are on the same coin…just opposite sides. Your latest success can become your kryptonite.
