With great love and in this manner,
I lift up my Mother Irene Jones-Ash banner.
The life she lived expressed God’s agape love;
Her kind words resting on you like a dove.
She had a great love for children – there was no doubt;
She wanted them to know God and what Jesus is about.
Her love for teaching music drew many to her home –
And many growing musicians were taught there – I was one.
She encouraged young men, saying: “Pull your pants up!”
“Be more presentable in how you look.”
To the young girls, she would often warn: “Don’t fall
victim to a young man charm.”
“Dress appropriately in modest attire;
Pleasing God should be your only desire.”
She “preached” to us all like we were her son or daughter;
Her monthly “sermons” could be read in “The Reporter.”
There is no doubt she will be missed by many people of all kinds;
I am truly blessed to have shared with her in this lifetime.
