To the Strong

The late Sister Irene Jones Ash and Granddaughter, Tarsha Gunn

Trusting in the Lord can be very hard when it seems that life is crumbling around you. Challenges and opposition feel like they are hitting from all sides and every angle. Bills due, trying to figure out your next meal, kids seem to have strayed far away from their upbringing. The feeling of being broken when everyone around you looks and depends on you and your strength. When it feels like the brokenness cannot be repaired. Please know that God is the Lord who is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalms 34:18). This is the light and hope we need and must turn to. Oftentimes we try to help others and pour into them. Giving pieces of ourselves away that we need.   Being strong for others when your strength is drained. But in our weakness God’s strength is perfect. This is a reminder that the world tells us to be strong, but the truth is we must remember we are not called to rely on our own strength. And not to the strength of others but plug into the power source that gives us the strength we need. God’s strength is our shield from challenges, opposition, and troubles. Stop and process our thoughts and feelings. Spend intimate time with The Lord gain strength and then become the one to be poured into others.

The sacrifice and suffering we go through to say yes to the strength that everyone else sees can become overwhelming. It is necessary to unplug and take time for yourself. Neglecting self-depletes us mentally, physically, and spiritually. This is a small nugget of encouragement that well-being means taking off what others put on us and completely trusting that He will replenish, refresh, and strengthen us, even when we can’t see our way through.

Leaning not to what we understand and the way we have been doing things that seem to always land us back in the same spot can be hard. We must take it to God in prayer. It doesn’t have to be big fancy words, a simple Lord help me can change the circumstances. God will take control when we let go. Acknowledge Him in all our ways. Answered prayers don’t always look the way we think. We still need a heart of gratitude. He will lead and guide you and what seems like the darkest hour light begins to peek through. God is navigating and guiding your path. He will counsel and give you peace when we let go and fall into the safety of His arms.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.
