Ingredients
- For the biscuits:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1/2 cup butter unsalted, melted
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 8 ounces cheddar cheese shredded
- For topping:
- 1/4 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
Directions
Step 1 –Set your oven to 450 degrees F.
Step 2 –Line a baking tray with parchment paper and set it aside.
Step 3 –Using a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder, salt, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, and dried parsley using a whisk.
Step 4 –Using a separate medium-sized mixing bowl, add the buttermilk and the melted butter together. The butter will form small clumps.
Step 5 –Bring the buttermilk mixture and the flour mixture together and mix gently with a rubber spatula, careful not to overmix.
Step 6 –Mix in the cheese, folding it in until the cheese is well incorporated.
Step 7 –Use a 1/4 cup measuring cup to scoop out the dough onto the previously prepared baking tray. Leave at least 1 inch between the biscuits.
Step 8 –Brush the top biscuits with 1/4 cup of buttermilk and then sprinkle it with the paprika and dried parsley.
Step 9 –Bake the biscuits for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
Step 10 –Serve warm!
