Scripture; O Give Thanks unto The Lord, For He is Good for His Mercy Endured Forever 1Choronicles16;34
During this month we pause to commemorate the giving of thanks as the harvest feast of the Pilgrims in 1621. It was the first year of their survival. The fourth Thursday in November is a day set aside as a legal holiday in the United States to be observed as Thanksgiving.James1;17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and cometh down from the Father of light.
When I look back over my life and think about how good God has been to me, I cannot thank him enough. I cannot count all my blessings, but I am so glad to mention a few of them.
The Lord Blessed us with godly parents, they taught us what was right, not only that, they set a good example for their six children to follow. And we did just that. Praise the Lord! The Lord blessed me to grow up in the country Wetumpka, AL. Elmore County. The Lord blessed me in the fields at that time I didn’t know I was being blessed. I graduated from junior high school, got married at the age of sixteen, and ended up in Etowah County. My father told me I was making a mistake. I was tired of working in the field. So after not listening to my father I ended up back home, My father told me; Irene you have made your bed hard, so you just have to lay on it. Young people, listen to your parents. they know what is best for you. and just trust in the Lord., put Him first in your life and everything else will fall in place. I have been in the valley and I have been on the mountain, but I can proudly say, God has been with me every step of the way Thank you, Jesus! When I read the story of Joseph in the bible, I think of myself there have been some people tried to make it hard for me in life, but I made it. Thank you, Jesus! I stated earlier the Lord blessed me in the field, he blessed me to come out of the field to Gadsden, he blessed me to continue my education. Blessed me to get my GED, Blessed me to study music. I learned enough to be able to teach music. Thank YOU, LORD! I am still teaching music at the age of (86) eighty-six, years old.
The reason I am always saying something about what I do, I am not bragging these are just facts. I happen to be someone that no matter what I do and how well it is done. it is not noticed most of the time. But God is good! Whatever the Lord bless you with. There is nothing that can be done about it. A few years ago at Christmas and at Easter, I had a piano student in Ashville, Altoona, Attalla, Alabama City, Victory Missionary Baptist Church, Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Fellowship Baptist Church, and Galilee Baptist Church to play the piano on their programs.
This is a blessing I am proud to count’ The Lord has blessed me to teach almost all the youths in Galilee Baptist Church, I want to thank their parents for allowing me to teach them. I am still thanking my pastor, Rev. G .E. Robinson for allowing me to teach the Primary Sunday School class. Some years ago, the Sunbeam class and the youth who do the third Sunday devotion. Those were some blessed days. One of the youths I must mention, Rev. Ricky Tillis, he would go to the altar to pray, he would stay there on his knees forever, no one knew what he was saying, he told us he was talking to the Lord, not to us. (smile) He has proved that he was talking to the Lord. He has made a great minister for sure.
I must thank the teachers at the Career Center for asking me to speak to the class. I pray that someone was blessed. I pray that those who read my book were blessed also. I want to thank the one who called me and said she was having some problems and was feeling down, but after reading my book it gave her courage to go on, in other words, trouble doesn’t last always. The Lord will make a way.
Someone asked me what made me want to write this book. I have a lot of reasons to desire to write that book. One reason, I have been through so much, I have been through storms and I have been through the rain. But God saw me through. So it is something to tell. Praise the Lord, Thank You, Jesus!
